Clinical Studies on Purpuras


Abstract
We observed clinically 145 cases who were admitted with manifesting of purpura at the pediatric department of Chonnam University hospital during a period of 5 years from Jan. 1970 to Dec. 1974.
1. Majority of patients (125 cases) were under age of 12 and highest incidence was to be seen in one to 4 years of age group (55 cases) and male was predominance in sex incidence (1.8:1).
2 In seasonal incidence, minority of patient were occured in fall (Sept. Nov. ).
3. On.hemorrhagic examinations, 55 cases (44.5%) were under 50, 000/mm3 in platelet count, 66.4% of cases were prolonged abnormally in bleeding time, 15-9¢¥9/. of cases were prolonged abnormally in coagulation time and 56.7% of cases were positive in Tourniquet test.
4. Following were the main disease entities underlying as the cause for purpuras.
Leukemia 63 cases (43.4%)
Aplastic anemia 22 cases (15.2%)
Septicemia 19 cases (13. 1%)
I. T. P. 17 cases (11.7%)
Allergic purpura 15 cases (10.3%)
Hemophilia 3 cases ( 2.8%)
Miscellaneous 6 cases ( 3.2%)
